What is the Blue 32?  They are 32 rules that will help you succeed in my classroom...and in life.

Why Blue 32?  Well, blue is my favorite color and...keep up with me here...there are 32 of them!

It actually goes back to my doomed high school football career.  When the QB would call a Blue 32, I knew that the ball was coming my way.  (He didn't call it much.)

I picked 32 because some of the greatest athletes from different sports wore the #32.  My favorite will always be Pittsburgh Steelers' running back Franco Harris.  Besides being Rookie of the Year in 1972 (the year I was born), Franco caught one of the most famous catches in the history of the NFL: The Immaculate Reception.  That catch led the Steelers to their first playoff game in 25 years - they had only been to the playoffs one other time before that - and opened the door to four Super Bowl Championships in a six-year period.   (Still the only team to win back-to-back Super Bowls twice.)

  3. We always do our assigned work without complaining.
  4. We always finish our homework.
  5. We always follow along when we read together in class.
  6. We always get in line order.
  7. We always get our work done without expecting a reward.
  8. We always grade other students’ work fairly and discreetly.

  10. We always have our desks as organized as possible.
  11. We always include everyone.
  12. We always keep ourselves clean.

  32. We always walk in a straight line, with our arms to our sides and our mouths closed.

BEYOND 32

FOR THE CAFETERIA
  • We always thank the lunch workers for their service.
  • We always speak at a normal voice level in the cafeteria.
  • We always eat our own food, and we never ask other people for theirs.
  • We always show gratitude for our food by not complaining about it.
  • We always take our fair share, and we do not waste what we take.
  • We always clean up our own mess in the cafeteria before we leave.
FOR ASSEMBLIES
  • We always sit on our back pockets and face forward.
  • We always speak at a normal voice level before the assembly begins.
  • We always sit quietly as the assembly is happening.
  • We always clap politely, and never yell or whistle at the end of an assembly.
FOR FIELD TRIPS
  • We always sit on our back pockets and face forward.
  • We always speak as low as possible while riding the bus.
  • We always enter public buildings quietly and with respect.
  • We always speak at a normal voice level, unless a whisper is required.
  • We always compliment and thank the workers of the place we visit.
  • We always keep our hands to ourselves and never touch anything we shouldn’t.
Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.

~ Babe Ruth
